About the Role

* Analyze user requirements, develop computer programs, and maintain and install vendor supplied software
* Consult with clients and/or customer service personnel to gather information about needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements
* Write and maintain technical job run and rerun specifications
* Research and evaluate software and hardware to assist in programming or to use as program platforms
* Study vendor supplied software documentation and recommend appropriate control parameters and specifications for processing
* Design and code screen layouts, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems
* Convert designs and specification into computer code; compile code into programs and correct error detected in compile process
* Create test transactions and run tests to find error and confirm that programs meet specifications; analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs
* Write documentation or review documentation written by others that describes installation and operating procedures
* Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs
* Monitor performance and resolve problems with programs after implementation
* Train end users or technical support staff to use programs
* Occasional weekend and afterhours requirements to include periodic on-call times
* Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to remain in a sitting stationary position for extended periods of time
* Constantly operate a computer and other office machinery
* Ability to lift 50 pounds

Requirements

* Associate's degree or 1+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
* At least 18 years of age
* Knowledge and experience in writing programs in RPGLE and Command Language preferred
* Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists
* Must be familiar with, and participate in, all phases of the product life cycle, software design, development, and testing methodologies
* Demonstrated ability to succeed in a complex and dynamic work environment
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
* Ability to meet deadlines, handles confidential data, and deal with frequent interruptions
* Ability to manage stress
* Must successfully pass background investigation according to company policy
* Must be able to get along with co-workers and work effectively in a team environment
